Cheat Your Way Thin is a diet based around carbs that has gained recognition and allows people to eat whatever they like one day out of the week so that the starvation response does not kick in.
Cheat Your Way Thin is a 53 page ebook that details how the system works but before you read it, it’s recommended that you listen to the Gamechanger recording which goes over all the science in the system in a little under 20 minutes. The Confessions recording is interesting as the author goes over how he found the system he is using and is only seven minutes long. This is not necessary to using the diet though.
The main guide does not mess around and starts you right into the three different parts of the system. The first part is a priming phase which lasts for 21 days. This is followed by the core phase which only lasts one week individually but you may need to repeat it to get down to your ideal weight. The last part is the maintenance phase and is how you are supposed to permanently adjust your eating habits. The core phase is interesting in that there are five different versions because some people’s bodies act differently when exposed to carbs. If the main version does not work you can keep trying until you find one that is successful.
There are three different days a week where you can eat varying types of foods and the phases change these to encourage weight loss. Days have foods with different amounts of carbs and foods that can be small or large in GI content. And do not forget about the cheat day you are allowed every week to eat whatever you like.
Exercising is talked about in passing suggesting three workouts every week for 20-25 minutes as the plan.
The guide is precise in most aspects but does not mention some things. For example it does not give a reason why you should drink the protein shake at 9pm daily. In the journal it asks you two questions but they are impossible to answer because the information is simply not available in the guide.
The system gives you an easy way to eyeball the size of portions and informs you how many portions you should have of carbs, proteins and fats to include in your diet on every specific day(except for the cheat day, where you can eat whatever you want).There is a list of foods that are good for getting carbs, proteins and fats.
Also included are sheets you can print to show you what foods you should be eating and in what quantity. There is also a video which you can see that suggests how to eat when traveling or visiting restaurants. It also gives tips on how to encourage yourself and make the transition to the diet as simple as can be.
The upgrade lets you contact the author personally through e-mail and gives you almost 90 days worth of meal suggestions for all three different manners of days plus recipes and tips on how to make those meals. This is great because the recipes conform exactly to the diet unlike some recipe and weight loss plans.
You are also given a brief guide explaining other exercise options to follow and a spreadsheet you can use if you wish to specifically account for all the calories you have consumed instead of following the the portion size technique given by the author. Overall this is a interesting system. It is not based on hype or gimmicks but on really trying to control you eating habits while still recognizing that people still have to “cheat” in their diet sometimes.
