<p><strong> What Is SIRT1?</strong></p>
<p>Simply put, SIRT1 is a &#8220;rescue gene&#8221;. This gene is activated during times of fasting to, for a very SHORT period of time, access more stored bodyfat.</p>
<p>That&#8217;s a good thing.</p>
<p>The problems are&#8230;</p>
<p>1. Fasting is not good for the metabolism if done for more than a day;</p>
<p>2. This trick doesn&#8217;t work well over the long-run.</p>
<p>SIRT1 is practically dormant in most people as we have a surplus of food. We consume, on average, about 30% more food than our bodies require every single day.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s no wonder this gene went to sleep&#8230;</p>
<p>&#8230; and it&#8217;s time you wake it up.</p>
<p><strong> How To Turn On SIRT1</strong></p>
<p>As mentioned above, fasting for a day will activate SIRT1 if practiced for a few weeks. So you eat one day, fast the next, and keep this up for 1-2 weeks.</p>
<p>But&#8230; let&#8217;s face it. Most of us do not like the idea of NOT eating for a full day.</p>
<p>So I have two alternatives that work just as well to activate SIRT1 and NOT shut down your metabolism over the long-haul (as weekly fasting like this can do.)</p>
<p><strong>TIP 1: </strong>Do a fruit fast instead.</p>
<p>If you want to try a fruit fast every other day you can do so. This is much healthier and much easier on the body than an all-out fast.</p>
<p>However, for some people the sugar in fruit can trigger over-eating&#8230; and we don&#8217;t want that.</p>

<p>This is the program that Jon himself uses most of the season to stay in TOP shape&#8230; as in &#8220;fitness guy&#8221; shape.</p>
<p><strong><a href="http://maxmusclegrowth.info">Vince DelMonte</a></strong>, the featured pro fitness model and trainer in these videos, created his own version of Jon&#8217;s Phase 2 workout found in 7 Minute Muscle and wow&#8230; wonderful stuff!</p>
<p>He uses 7MM and competes in fitness competitions.</p>
<p>Jon is 46&#8230; Vince is 30. Vince&#8217;s wife and Jon&#8217;s fiancé both use these principles as well.</p>
<p>Works for anyone at any age.</p>
<p>Jon has been getting one email after another asking more about it, so I thought I&#8217;d help out:</p>
<p>&#8220;What the heck is Phase 2?&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;Is there a &#8220;Phase 3&#8243;?&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;I forgot&#8230; What Is Phase 1?&#8221;</p>
<p>Read this article  if you want me to give you an overview so complete that you may not even need to re-read the book to find out what these Phases are all about and how to use them to get the body you want.</p>
<p><strong><a href="http://fatlossdoneez.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/images3.jpg"><img class="size-full wp-image-1026 alignleft" title="images3" src="http://fatlossdoneez.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/images3.jpg" alt="" width="276" height="183" /></a>#1:  Phase 2</strong></p>
<p>Phase 2 in both 7 <a href="http://www.ucontext.com/cbhop.php/1304/0/170341a65a3cb934cdca6790f9695095/minute+muscle">Minute Muscle</a> (gym-based) and 7 <a href="http://www.ucontext.com/cbhop.php/1304/0/e14fde1e73a8fc77bf42e94827e5771d/minute+body">Minute Body</a> (in-home workouts) is the 14-minute version of Jon&#8217;s original 7-minute workout system.</p>
<p>Each body part is still only trained for 7 minutes&#8230; that&#8217;s it. However, in Phase 2, You don&#8217;t train just 7 minutes a day&#8230; you combine body parts to train 14 minutes a day.</p>
<p>The huge benefit here is that you cut your gym time from 5 days per week (Phase 1) to only 3 days per week. But your workouts are twice a long.</p>
<p>( Only 14 <a href="http://www.ucontext.com/cbhop.php/1304/0/170341a65a3cb934cdca6790f9695095/minutes">minutes</a>&#8230; but that&#8217;s 2&#215;7&#8230; : )</p>
<p>The Day 1 workout in <a href="http://www.ucontext.com/cbhop.php/1304/0/fcb6d3204c60234217ba60f73d975ce1/phase+2">Phase 2</a> is Chest and Back. Chest is trained for 7 total minutes using only 2 exercises. Same with back.</p>
<p>So how on earth does this work so well?</p>
<p>Simple: It forces progression almost every workout using the 7MM Aggregate Repetition System along with &#8220;Dynamic Rest&#8221; &#8230; also called &#8220;Creative Rest.&#8221;</p>
<p>NOTE:  This is all explained in the books (when you order 7 Minute Muscle you get 7 Minute Body freee&#8230; you can order the books if you don&#8217;t have them from inside the Phase 2 Videos members area.)</p>
<p>Put these two factors together and you increase the total workload of a normal 40-minute <a href="http://www.ucontext.com/cbhop.php/1304/0/16e8ffc5c5a95592c99294924fd7fb91/workout">workout</a> by a factor of 1.5 &#8211; 3x or more.</p>
<p>Each exercise has two &#8220;Intervals&#8221;&#8230; the Power Interval and the Mass Interval.</p>
<p>Power is for strength; Mass is for shape and adding lean muscle. Both are crucial. One is 5 minutes long; the other 2 minutes long. Each hit different muscle fibers by changing the number of repetitions done (but that number is also dynamic) &#8230;</p>

<p><strong> #2:  Phase 3</strong></p>
<p>Yes, there is a Phase 3&#8230; and the reason you don&#8217;t need videos for it is because only the most hard-core bodybuilders and athletes use Phase 3. They already know how to perform the movements.</p>
<p>Jon is pretty hard-core into bodybuilding but even he sticks to Phase 2. That should tell you how challenging Phase 3 is!</p>
<p>Phase 3 workouts are 21 minutes long but call for THREE exercises per body part rather than ONE like Phase 2 (as shown in Vince&#8217;s video page) and Phase 1.</p>
<p>Very tough.</p>
<p>But it works like crazy&#8230; and it&#8217;s worth a shot after doing Phase 1 and 2 for at least 4 months.</p>
<p><strong> #3:  Phase 1</strong></p>
<p>Phase 1 is the beginner 7MM and 7MB workout that is 7 minutes, 5 days per week. Same protocols as in Phase 2 except you train more days and less during each session.</p>

<div>Barely five minutes into her jumping/gyrating/vibrating routine, <span style="font-size: 13.3333px;">I collapsed on the couch, completely confused, frustrated and very much </span><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;"><strong>ANNOYED</strong>. </span><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;">Maybe, just maybe I could have kept up with her for awhile if </span><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;">something she did made some <strong>SENSE</strong>.</span></div>

<p>1. Use tofu fillers in chicken and beef recipes. Even if you hate tofu, you can barely taste the difference when combined properly.</p>
<p>2. Buy your meats in bulk online. You can find less expensive grass-fed beef and naturally-raised chicken and have it delivered to you if you live near a large city. If not, check the local farmers.</p>
<p>3. Eat meat only 3-4 times per week and use black beans with rice or inexpensive tuna for your other days. I eat tuna cooked in a skillet with lots of veggies and some olive oil almost every night and I LOVE the taste!</p>

<p><strong>&#8220;Sitting At Work Ruins Any Benefits Of Workouts&#8221;</strong></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;">Sub-headline:</span></p>
<p>&#8220;Risk of death not decreased if you work out but <span style="font-size: 13.3333px;"><strong>SIT</strong> for 6 hours a day or more, researchers say&#8221;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;">There&#8217;s a kernel of truth to this&#8230;Researchers reported their findings of a 14-year male and female-based study on exercise, sitting down but a lot of falsehood.</span><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;">while working or watching TV for more than 6 hours a day, and mortality rates in the American Journal of Epidemiology.</span><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;"><span style="font-size: 9.25925px;"> </span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;">The study was long, detailed, and rather shocking to say the least as far as the results go:</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;">Exercising the way most people exercise did </span><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;">NOTHING to prevent early death from heart</span></p>
<p>disease if individuals sit for more than 6 hours <span style="font-size: 13.3333px;">per day. </span><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;">And most Americans sit for about 11 hours&#8230; yikes.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;">So, throw away your workout gear and toss your gym membership in the garbage if you have a desk job&#8230; right? </span><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;">Not so fast.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;">Here&#8217;s the part the news folks failed to cover:</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;">This research never took into account NUTRITION </span><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;">or <a href="http://www.ucontext.com/cbhop.php/1304/0/16e8ffc5c5a95592c99294924fd7fb91/workout">workout</a> plans less than 24.5 MET-hours per week. </span><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;">The first bit you know all about:  Nutrition.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;">If you read Jon&#8217;s newsletters/articles, you know how to eat&#8230; but 90% of the people involved in this study probably did not. </span><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;">It&#8217;s highly (in fact, dangerously) doubtful that they were&#8230;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;">1. Eating low-starch meals at least 3-4 days per week;</span></p>
<p>2. Consuming healthy sources of lean protein at each meal;</p>
<p>3. Consuming healthy fats;</p>
<p>4. And using sugars and starchy carbs only at specific times<br />
as Jon teaches in &#8220;The Every Other Day Diet.&#8221;</p>
<p>The study only briefly mentions that the subjects ate a &#8220;normal diet&#8221;&#8230; and that could mean anything.</p>
<p><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;">Let me make this clear:</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;">Exercise ONLY works if you have a dietplan that works. </span><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;">So if you are NOT eating correctly, then yeah&#8230; toss the gym membership in the garbage. It will do you little if any good except help you blow off some steam.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;">However, there&#8217;s another VERY important part this study missed.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;">This part: </span><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;">&#8220;Less than 24.5 MET-hours per week of exercise.&#8221;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;">What the heck does that mean?</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;">&#8220;MET&#8221; stands for Metabolic Equivalent of Task. This is the energy and oxygen required by the body in the form of exercise to do a specific task as compared to the body at rest. </span><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;">The body at rest has an MET of 1, roughly speaking.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;">The exercise performed by the study group was your typical 5-6 day per week bout of running or perhaps some other form of cardio. Weight training? Sure, the old way&#8230; with an MET of 4 (i.e. lift, rest, chat on the phone, lift&#8230; repeat.)</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;">Now, are you ready for this?</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;"> </span><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;">Jon&#8217;s style of training, &#8220;7 <a href="http://www.ucontext.com/cbhop.php/1304/0/e14fde1e73a8fc77bf42e94827e5771d/minute+body">Minute Body</a>&#8221;-style, Phase 2 to be specific, has an MET of about 12. TWELVE. And that is two 7-minute bouts, totaling 14 minutes flat in the gym (or at home.) This is done 4 days per week.</span></p>
<p>He simply follows that by either GXP cardio and brisk walking at least 5 days per week. The walking takes about 50 minutes; the GXP only 9.</p>
<p><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;">That&#8217;s IT&#8230; and he is a fitness guy&#8230; you know, magazines&#8230; photo shoots&#8230; competitions?  Yeah. That kind of fitness guy! </span><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;">The funny thing is that ANYONE using Phase 2 (and there are grandmothers using it) will have the same MET ranking.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;">And my MET-hours per week?  32!</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;">This is WELL over and above the average person who is working out LONGER, but not SMARTER. </span><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;">That&#8217;s the key behind the 7MB and 7MM Systems&#8230; SMART training, but BRIEF training for maximum muscle shape and definition. </span><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;">And, if Jon&#8217;s health is any indication, the program solves the sitting problem nicely.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;">He told me he sits at least 12 hours a day. Even on a plan that  ASKS you to eat frequently like mine, there are times where night-time cravings need to be put to sleep. So use these tips from the article to ease the urge to eat at night:</p>
<p><strong>1. Protein First</strong></p>
<p>As Jon stresses in his dietplan, &#8220;Rise and shine with protein.&#8221;  But  what does this have to do with night-time cravings? Everything.<br />
Set the body up to use your own fat-stores for fuel by eating protein in the morning and your <a href="http://www.ucontext.com/cbhop.php/1304/0/f94a717f41c5d159db990c56745c6079/appetite">appetite</a> FOR fatty foods goes way down during the day and the night. Protein is &#8220;thermogenic&#8221;, meaning it helps increase your metabolism. It also acts as a natural appetite regulator.</p>
<p>Notice I said &#8220;regulator&#8221; and not &#8220;suppressant.&#8221; That&#8217;s because you only need to regulate your appetite, no matter how much bodyfat you desire to drop.</p>

<p><strong>2. Go For The Grapefruit</strong></p>
<p>In a study at the Nutrition and Metabolic Research Center at the Scripps Clinic in San Diego, people who ate half a grapefruit with each meal lost an average of 3.6 pounds in three months. That doesn&#8217;t sound like a lot (and it isn&#8217;t) but that&#8217;s ALL they changed.</p>
<p>It doesn&#8217;t matter for our purposes&#8230; we want to lower insulin at night. Why? Insulin is not only dangerous for your health in excess but it also can cause a LOT of fat storage if secreted too much at night. Enter the lowly grapefruit. A great snack, especially if you have a few bites of lean protein with it.</p>
<p><strong>3. Smell This!</strong></p>
<p>This is a trick I didn&#8217;t know about until recently. Smelling food can trick your brain into thinking you&#8217;ve eaten.</p>
<p>A recent study found that those who inhaled peppermint in scent form every 2 hours at (get this) 2700 calories LESS per week than they normally did.</p>
<p>Let me put that in perspective:  That&#8217;s a fatloss of more than half a pound a week&#8230; from sniffing peppermint! Vanilla also works. You can keep vanilla-scented drops or even candles around the office and take a wiff every few hours.</p>
<p>How easy is that?</p>

<strong>The Bad Part</strong><br />

<p>The MSNBC article goes on with advice like &#8220;eat potatoes&#8221; and &#8220;eat just a little bit of fat&#8221;, both of which are nonsense. Potatoes may fill you up, but they are still starch &#8211; and starch should be consumed on your &#8220;off&#8221; days.</p>
<p>Potatoes are especially bad due to the higher-than-desired glycemic index of 85 (anything over 50 is too high.) You also need dietary fat&#8230; and not just &#8220;a little.&#8221; You need a moderate amount to stay healthy and keep insulin regulated.</p>
<p>Olive oil and even coconut oil are excellent sources, as are naturally occurring fats in fresh fish, grass-fed beef, farm-raised chicken and whole eggs.</p>
<p>The rest of the article is common sense stuff:  Workout, eat dense food that requires you to chew a lot (tire out the jaw muscles and you naturally eat less), etc. The top 3 are the real winners.</p>
