7 Ways To Curb Your Cravings

If you’re a person who watches your weight, sometimes you find yourself craving for certain types of foods, such as carbohydratesand sugar. The reasons behind those cravings is to satisfy a physiological need or hormonal imbalance.

Another reason for these cravings could be your serotonin levels in your body. Serotonin can be found in the brain and its job is to regulate your appetite and your mood. Whenever we eat, the serotonin level increases and gives us a sense of satisfaction. Low levels of serotonin can lead to a craving for a particular food just to satisfy.

Here are 7 ways you can curb your cravings:

1. Get a Health Check-up

Make sure your blood sugar levels are checked, so you can make the appropriate actions, if needed. For example, A craving for sugary and refined carbohydrate foods can be a precursor to diabetes. So seek and consult a physician first. Even if a food is considered safe to eat, giving in to a craving can be determental. It can damage both your health and weight control.

2. Eat Meals Regularly

Make sure that you eat at least 5-6 tiny meals a day. This usually helps to control your cravings for carbohydrates and sugar. You should balance your diet with a mix of protein, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, fiber and fatty acids. Good nutritional support is essential to curbing your cravings.

3. Healthy Eating

Make sure you eat only healthy and nutritious meals. Avoid processed and refined foods that your body will receive as mixed messages. 7.  Keep Yourself Busy

Keeping busy is a great effective way to curb your cravings. Participate in physical activities such as a game or go for a walk. Write some notes or do something to keep your hands busy so you can reduce those cravings. Be flexible and if an activity makes you crave for a certain food, change course.
